The fringe is the slightly longer area on the very edge of the green. Not the longer grass that surrounds it.

Once you have determined that you are on the fringe, then you want to line up your shot. The easiest way to do this is to look at the shot from behind your ball. Look at the dips and rises in the green just as though you were lining up a putt from the surface of the green itself. Your lineup from the fringe should be similar to that of when you are putting normally.

The next thing you should do is imagine that you are rolling the ball by hand up onto the green. This will give you some idea of the tempo your swing should be. Whatever that tempo is, you should add a little because of the fringe. The fringe will slow your golf ball to a degree. Imagine that the hole is actually about three feet wide. It is much easier to sink these types of shots in this manner, and usually if you come up short or long it will still be makeable on the next shot.

As you go to take your shot, keep in mind that the putter can easily get caught up in the fringe. For this reason you should choke up just a little on the putter and grip it firmly. Do not cut off your circulation. Simply hold the club firmly. Line the putt up and swing steady and straight. Your eyes should be on the back of your golf ball all the way through the shot. Follow through and strike the ball cleanly.

Karcher negotiated with the Vatican for two years before beginning a major project that took nine months to complete. This was one of the company’s most extensive pro bono cleaning projects to date; however corporate officials refuse to discuss the final costs associated with the completed project.

The Mount Rushmore project was also a huge undertaking because of the grand scale of the carvings and its rural setting. For these same reasons, it’s one of the philanthropic projects that the company is most proud of. When the company approached the National Parks Service about the cleaning, they had had the project on the books for some time but there just wasn’t enough funding to complete the badly needed cleaning that the delicate carvings would require.

The faces on Mount Rushmore were carved from 1927 to 1941 and had never before been properly cleaned. The National Parks Service was very pleased by the offer from Karcher Corporation to clean the monument free of charge. Otherwise the bill for the restoration would have cost the US taxpayers in the tens of millions.

No chemicals were allowed to be used in the cleaning of the faces. The only things used to clean the monument were hot water and pressure washing. The water had to be pumped 300 ft. up the mountain to a basin and then piped to the workers doing the cleaning. Further complicating matters, the park remained open during the entire process.

Plus, while his 1 1/2 seasons without Jordan have been unfairly summed up by his refusal to act as a decoy during Toni Kukoc’s buzzer-beater in the 1994 playoffs, he was one of the league’s best players and arguably should have been the MVP that season in carrying the undermanned Bulls to 55 wins. Put simply, he did everything well and thrived next to one of the best scorers in the league. If you can’t read headlines, then please note that LeBron James(notes) finds himself in the same role next season. When LeBron entered the league in 2003, he was compared to Magic Johnson for his height and sublime vision and passing. But at this point in his career, Pippen is the better comparison, both because James is firmly established as a wing and because of his partnership with Wade.

To be clear, they are not exactly similar players. James blocks a lot of shots, but he hasn’t been a lockdown defender on Pippen’s level to this point in his career. Plus, while Pippen was fantastic with the ball, he didn’t have James all-encompassing skillset.

But those differences only make it clear just how much talent LeBron has. His defensive deficiencies have been less a function of ability and more about his considerable offensive responsibilities with the Cavs. He simply hasn’t been able to be a lockdown defender due to the strictures of stamina, but he can now achieve that status in Florida with Wade next to him.

Those Bulls teams are the clearest model for the Heat. I’ve discussed this issue with Q McCall and Bethlehem Shoals, and both have argued that the Heat would ideally run a similar triangle system with Wade and James a dual points of attack. But even if the Heat don’t embrace that system (which seems unlikely, after all), they can use the Pippen/Jordan relationship as a starting point.

It’s odd to think of James as a secondary player next to Wade. But to call Pippen "secondary" neglects his immense importance to the Bulls and his own unique stardom. With his considerable skills and athleticism, James can exceed Pippen’s accomplishments. If he does so, he might even help illuminate just what made Pippen so special and finally rid him of that "underrated" tag.
